The Monroe County Humane Society promotes, advocates, and provides for the welfare of animals in the county of Monroe in Wisconsin.
Where it all began- Oct. 26, 1972. Mrs. Anna Stevenson of Sparta, requested anyone who would like to be involved in the humane care of stray dogs/animals to please join her for the first ever meeting to establish a Monroe County Humane Society.
What Monroe County Humane Society CVG offers county residents today( as funds are available):
For a DOG: A reimbursement of half the cost you paid, but not to exceed $100, after you have your dog spayed or neutered by a licensed Veterinarian. *Limit: 1 rebate on dog alteration per household, per year.
For a CAT: A reimbursement of half the cost you paid, but not exceed $50, after you have your cat spayed or neutered by a licensed Veterinarian. *Limit: multiple rebates for multiple cat households.
**Rebates will be honored as funds are available**
You must have your Veterinarian fill out the rebate form (the form is at any Vet Clinic in Monroe County and at the Animal Shelter in Sparta. ) You must provide a copy of the Veterinary receipt that includes the cost you paid and that the animal was altered. Send those two papers and a self addressed stamped envelope to or email paperwork.

Scholarships: We offer a $2,000 scholarship to high school graduates from Monroe County, who are going to continue education in the Animal husbandry area. There is an application to fill out, check with your High School to get the application.
